It's time again for the Blogger's Quilt Festival! This year it was easy for me to pick a quilt that I wanted to show in the Blogger's Quilt Festival. In April 2009 when I attended the Peeps Quilt Retreat in Ohio, we went shop hopping and I picked up a wonderful 6 pack of fat quarters of the brown/teal batiks. I knew we had several others at the shop, so I figured I could make something with them. When mom and I were at Quilts and Vines near Sioux Falls last August, I found the pattern called A Day at the Lake. I fell in love with it. I came home, cut the fabrics out, bought the backing and borders, and made the center squares. I promptly got busy on something else and never finished. This year during the Badlands Quilters Retreat I pulled it out and put the borders on it. Later in Sept. I was able to get it quilted and the binding on it. The pattern called for it to be made as a throw, but I enlarged it to be a queen size. I quilted it with a wool batting, King Tut Teal/Brown verigated thread and brown Bottomline. I absolutely love how it turned out and it's hubby approved for our bed. It fits and still has plenty of hangover on both sides and is long enough to tuck in. I have enough to make pillowcases and a tablerunner, but haven't found a pattern that will work with the scraps I have left.
