I was able to get my One  Monthly Goal accomplished and so much more.  I finished my Ellipse sample and get it quilted and bound.

July 2016 Stash Report

July was a phenomenal month for me! In addition to everything else I've already shared, I'm working on a couple other projects. This is a sample for my piecing and machine quilting basics classes. It's fun to make this from the kit I cut. I couldn't find the perfect border fabric, so I am going to the Sewing Center to get something at lunch today. I need to get it finished up before the 20th.


Good night Irene is finished with binding now. I plan to enter it in the fair and then it will be a sample for an event at The Sewing Center on Saturday September 10th.

UpCraft.club/sewingctr is a new website we are working with at the store, so I thought I would give it a try. I printed out the pattern and taped it together. This weekend I cut out some test material. Of course, I didn't have quite enough, so I had to improvise and have a seam down the back and one through the middle back, but I am making it work.

This is my Trapeze dress so far! I only have the side seams and hem to do tonight. I am loving it, even though I am not a big fan of bias binding. If all works well, I am hoping to make myself a nightgown out of the pattern as well.


I'm really making some progress on using up my stash with this challenge. I have a few different dresses to finish and then all the new projects, except for samples, are coming from stash. I love using up what I have!

OMG April Goal - Success!

My OMG goal for April popped up in an odd way. I was in the store, looking for something else on Tuesday, when my boss asked if I'd make a store sample Sew Together bag, before Saturday. I said sure and got to work. I cut it out on my afternoon break, started sewing that night and by the next morning was putting it together. I had a little boy with an earache, so I stayed home from work with him and it was done by early afternoon.  It turned out pretty cool and I have enough to make a mini one as well, which is cut out already.

I also made myself a mini of the Sew Together bag. I just need to shorten the handles because they are a bit too long.

In other sewing this month, I have been very successful... Maybe not a lot of stash usage, but I've gotten a lot accomplished. I am traveling a lot for work next month and wanted a new bag, so I made an SDSU bag. It's a bit bigger than the Fuji Tote - 2" bigger each way, so my computer will fit and yet it still small enough to be a bag.

I've been using already and I love it.

One of the former students in our program had twin girls, so I whipped up these minkee tag blankets before graduation to give them to her. They are made of 2 fat quarters. Super cute and super quick and fun to make.

I also finished up this minkee/jelly roll quilt for the store. It's a sample and turned out super cute and so snuggly.

I made Mikaela a Dr. jacket and scrub pants to go with it. She's convinced she's going to be a Dr.

My biggest achievement was making my duffle bag from a ByAnnie pattern. I love the look, but not the way they are put together. Too much soft and stable to make it easy to sew. It turned out really well and I know I'll love travelling with it next month. I hope to teach a class on this bag in the fall.

I had lots of the accent fabric, so I bought other fabric to use with it.

Yesterday I finally got 1/4 of my table runner hexie project sewn together. It's turning out cool, but boy it takes a lot of work. I'm hoping this will keep my motivated to work on it. Don't you love the carpet at work... not.

In my quest to make a miniature for the quilt show, I decided to make a scrappy granny square project. It's made from 1.5" squares and the blocks are 4" finished. I have 16 finished and now I am trying to decide to sash or not to sash them.

Mikaela is getting so big and is at such a fun age. Kindergarten screening coming up next week.

OMG January 2016 Finished!

This month has been amazing for my quilting! I've gotten a lot accomplished and many things moved forward. I was able to not only finish the top of the Remington quilt, which was my goal for January for OMG, but I also got it quilted and the binding on it. It turned out great and I think this is probably the quilt I have had the most comments on in a long time!


I also made a couple more essential oils bags for Kelli. They turned out cute. I have a few more to make, but needed to take a break.



I was able to go to the BHQG SOYO and get quite a few tops done. I finished this Case IH quilt. Now I just need to get a backing done so I can quilt it.


Mikaela and I spent some time quilting on the MKJ holiday and I finished putting the binding on, so it's ready to hang for the next month.

I got an unexpected day at my dad's last weekend and was able to quilt this blue hexie quilt for my MIL. I put the binding on it this week, so another finish for the month!



I put together this Valentine's day table runner at the SOYO and quilted it last weekend. I put the binding on this week and finished the hand work last night.

I was able to quilt this trip around the world quilt on the holiday and tonight when I changed the bedding, I decided I wanted to put it on the bed. I trimmed it up, put the binding on and stitched it down by machine and it's my last finish for January 2016.

I decided to use my new Quilters Planner to track my stash usage this year. I'm more determined than ever to finish up all these UFO's I have laying around. Since it's too hard for me to do it weekly, I'll be posting my stash report monthly.

ALYOF August Goal Met!

Just as the month is coming to a close, I finished the Winter Wonderland quilt top, which was my ALYOF goal for August. It's a sample for the store and turned out pretty cool, just very time consuming and a lot of little pieces. So glad it is done and I can move on to other projects. I did get quite a bit done this month, considering how much I traveled.

I also made this fun little baby quilt using 8 fat quarters. It's super simple, yet is good practice for doing Y seams. I quilted it with baseballs. I'll be teaching the class in a few weeks.


While I was on my first work trip this month, I pieced this rail fence. It's scraps from quilts I made about 5 years ago. Friday while I was at my dad's I quilted it up. It'll make a nice baby quilt.

The leftover pieces went into this quick little doll blanket, which also got quilted at dad's last week.

AYLF October goal

This month I hope to get back in the sewing studio & do some creating.  Tonight I finished a sample I should have been done with a month ago, but it's finished!  Luckily this next sample is miniature & I'm excited to work on it. So tonight I figured I would start sewing the hst's together. Excited to say I got them all sewn! Tomorrow I will cut & press & trim & be ready to sew the top.

Slow sewing week

This past week and this week have been really slow for sewing! Last week was the fair and we were there a lot. Plus I taught on Wednesday night. I did the Triangle Frenzy class which was a great class, even for a beginner. This 8 year old wanted to sew and her mom didn't know how, so they came to class, the mom cut, I helped the girl learn to sew, and the top was done that night. It was so much fun. The class went great. I even had my first guy in a class and he was the only one who finished!

I was also busy in my free time creating this money bouquet for a bridal shower on Friday. It turned out cute.



We went to the carnival/rodeo on Saturday night and the kids got to ride the merry go round for the first time.

The last couple nights we've been without the kids due to change in plans, so I gathered all my stuff for the craft show, then spent a bit of time sewing. I created these 3 bags over past 2 nights. They turned out super cute and were fun and fast to make. I hope with some modification they will make cute samples for a class.



I finally used up all the Juggling Summer mini charms I won from Jan.

August Sewing & Quilting

August really has flown by for me! I can't believe we're almost to the middle. I made this Spirograph table topper from some of my remaining blush fabric. I am loving the pattern and may have to try it again.

I finished it up with a machine sewn binding, but I'm not really liking it, so may take it out and hand sew it down. I used wool for the batting in this one.

To add to my samples for an upcoming class, I made two more Lazy Girl runaround bags. They are quick and easy and make great gifts.

Mikaela and I worked on a couple bags for her. She got distracted pretty fast, but was certainly ready to fill them when I was done.

A co-worker asked me to fix her sons jacket. Her mom had put the zipper in, but it was really puckered.

I took it out and re-did it. There were three different layers to sew, re-sew, and then topstitch. A complicated way to make a jacket for sure, but it's done and she's happy.

I made another sample for class from a new fabric line at work. I just love how I was able to fussy cut to make it work.

The back pocket is also fussy cut.

I finished a third mini swoon block, so only 1 remains. I love making these little blocks. With the corner clipper ruler it's been a breeze to sew them too.

Last week I quilted a couple quilts for my friend Emilee. I did an allover stipple in white king tut with a taupe bottom line.

I love how she made her scrappy swoon longer. I wish I  had done that to mine as well.

I also quilted this happy houses big block quilt with a large stipple in a verigated green/teal/yellow/red thread.

A co-worker is leaving today for a trip with her husband and she'll be doing a lot of waiting, so I made her a big bag to carry all her things. My co-workers and I made a big old care package of things she might need. I was kind of fun seeing what everyone put in it. She loves leopard print, so I picked the fabric especially for her.

With the leftover fold area I made a little makeup bag for a bunch of toiletry things. The orange is in the other bag as well. It's so bright and fun.

Saturday I whipped up this little Star-burst table topper for my dad's wife's hair dresser. She gave me a bunch of Crown Royal bags, so I wanted to do something for her.

Last week my aunt and I took a trip back to my hometown for a 60th anniversary celebration. It was fun to visit with so many neighbors and friends. It would have been my mom's birthday, so we stopped at the cemetery as well. I don't get back real often any more, so it was nice to have the time to visit.


While I quilted last week Mikaela and Mathew played with Grandpa and Grandma. Mikaela thought she would take over my dad's chair, but he made her share. It was so cute to see her playing with Grandpa.
