Quilting Day at Dad's House

 Last week I pieced the Seaside table runner for the #journey2Nebula quilt along. The stiletto comes in really handy when piecing it. I quilted it and bound it Thursday night, then worked on the hand stitching on Friday morning and Saturday night. I finally got it finished and gifted to my co-worker Chris who got married at the beginning of the month. 

As I was piecing it, I worked on these Toni blocks. I've been using them as leaders and enders. They are from the Glamping Gypsy line (that I still have too much of!). 

Saturday I was able to go to Dad's house and quilt. I started with Frolic mini Jacob's Ladder quilt. It's 20x24 and all the blocks are 2.5" finished. 

Dad took us to the Wicksville church for lunch and a craft bazaar, then back to quilting! I quilted this mini Moda Love quilt. It's 12" square. Then I quilted both Cabin Fever quilts on the same backing piece. I did one with loops and the other with swiggles. 

I also quilted this Lucky Charm pillow topper. It will become a 20" pillow. It's so easy to quilt these up quickly at dad's, especially when everything goes well. We were home earlier than expected (which never happens). The next day I realized I forgot to quilt the Sweetheart table topper, but it's small and I can do it at home. 

Last night I whipped up a couple more face masks. One for my MIL and one for my daughter. I think they will love them. The batwing pattern is so fast and it fits so well. 

This week we leave on vacation and I get to go to #QuiltingismyTherapy shop. To say I'm excited is an understatement! I'll be sure to share photos when we return. 

New UFO's this year

I worked on quite a few projects in 2020 that haven't been completed. I got all the pieces made for the 2019 Quiltville Mystery quilt, but haven't put them together yet. 

 

I worked on and finished all these hexie flowers. I just determined a layout, so I'm working on the setting diamonds now. 

I finished this Jacobs Ladder mini top.

I quilted a bunch of this unicorn fabric to make a couple bags. I have them cut out, but not made yet. 

I'm using my leftover pieces from Glamping Gypsies to make a Toni quilt.

I made these 2 Cabin Fever baby quilts and they are both Glamping Gypsy fabric. 

I made this sweetheart table topper for a coworker for his wedding. I need to get it finished. 

I started the blocks for Swoon 16, but only got 2 made. 

I did the Hope Quilt along and have all the blocks made. 

I made this mini Moda love quilt and it just needs quilting. 

I did the Elvira quilt along and Trappor quilted it for me, but I need to bind it. 

I am doing the #journey2Nebula quilt along and this is the Lucky Charm pillow top. 

I spent about 5 hours the other day working on this table topper and it's finally coming along. 

I have quite a few things going, but I work on whatever I feel like. 
 

Friday Finishes!

This week was less productive than I am accustomed to, but life sometimes gets in the way of my goals. I did finish the binding on my Moda challenge quilt for the store on Tues. I dropped it off and they are all hanging up ready for the preview party on Sat. Looking at mine and Emilee's they are so different, but both look neat. I'll try to get a picture. I'm so excited that we get to do this again next quarter!

On Wednesday my brother Jim called and we visited for over 2 hours. Guess we hadn't chatted in a while and needed to catch up. On a whim I pulled out this layer cake of Max and Whiskers and went into the crawl space and grabbed the gray I had bought for a scrap quilt and decided to make a chevron quilt. I've now come to realize it's going to be a big quilt. I had bought it with another idea in mind and that didn't pay out, so it's headed in another direction. I had planned to give it to a good friend, but I keep thinking of others I could give it to, so it's still up for grabs. Maybe I should see who comments on wanting it and give it away that way.
I sewed all the blocks last night and just need to trim and press and they will be ready to assemble at quilt retreat. Yes, I am already preparing even though it is more than a month away. I've decided to get a bunch of quilts ready to assemble. I'll have room to lay them out and then I can have finished tops when I am done. So far I have this one, but I hope to get Scrappy Swoon, Thangles BOM, and maybe B/W/Pink quilts into blocks. Then I'll take the Swoon kits to work on those blocks. I'm going to do more prepping than finishing in April. I also got the Easy #4 quilt blocks sewn, so they can be another quilt top to assemble.

Tues night my co-worker gave us her tickets for the Rush hockey game. Since it was last minute, we had no time to find a sitter, so we took the kids. Mikaela loved it and was really good. She loved seeing the mascot Nugget. She was so happy she couldn't contain herself and kept jumping up and down.

Mathew on the other hand thought sleep was a better idea. He's obviously outgrown his cute little Jacks hat, but he was cozy. My co-workers dad sat next to us and he told her the next day what good kids we had and they were so well behaved and he'd adopt them as grandkids. She said "and that's coming from a man who doesn't like kids". I was so please to hear that he thought they were good.

Last night Mikaela insisted on holding Mathew, like she normally does. We have to help, but we do let her when she's sitting down. She's such a good big sister and loves to help. She rocks Mathew in his carseat when I'm getting everything ready in the morning and is always ready to "help" when needed.

WIP Wednesday Week 14 4/4/12

This week has been very productive and lots of fun. Saturday I got up at 6 to finish sewing the rows together on my Merry Go Round quilt. I had the preview party for our Spring classes at 10 and had to have it done. I finished just in the nick of time to get ready and drive there. I didn't even get a picture of the finished top, but hope to tonight when I'm at the shop for class. Saturday afternoon Jenn and I went on the Northern Hills part of the shop hop. We had a great time and plan to do the rest on Friday. It's always fun to see what other shops have for fabric and notions.
Sunday I spent cleaning up my huge mess in my sewing room so I could get motivated again. I cleaned off everything and pulled the projects highest on the priority list.
Monday I loaded Heather's quilt with all the cancer ribbon colors. It turned out really pretty.

The back is just as pretty. I used a variegated thread on top and a cream on the bottom.

Tonight I'm teaching a class on how to use the Lazy Angle ruler, so I made up a few samples to show how to make the blocks, cut, and press. I just used scraps from my mom's batiks. I think they were for another project, but I couldn't find the pattern, so I used them in what I hope will be a wall hanging or baby quilt.

I made another on out of some of my leftover scraps from the Merry Go Round quilt. I'm really looking forward to this class and hope I have enough samples to show the concept and help everyone understand what they are doing.

Then I started working on this sample for the store. It's a bag out of a new Moda line.

I got the outer part and the lining done and now just need to make handles and put it together, but I was too tired to do that last night.

This is the fabric I quilted up last week for a sketch book cover and to try my stitch regulator out. So far I love the regulator, but it's taking time to learn to quilt without the constant fast speed.

Lariann and Larissa's Baby Quilt

On Tuesday the 12th of July I found out about a baby shower for one of my friends from grade school on Sat. the 16th. Her and her two sisters and I were friends. Her and one of the sisters had come to my shower and I had gone to the others baby shower last year, so I knew I wanted to go. I figured I could quickly whip up a baby quilt. I had 2 Dilly Dally charm packs and enough fabric to make 2 little girl quilts. I found out she was having a girl and set to work. I made the top on Tues/Wed. nights. I had it done in just a few hours, but Mikaela helped so it took a bit longer.

I quilted it on Wed. night and worked on the binding at work on Thurs. and Fri.

I just loved the daisies I quilted into it.

But, I knew her sister had had a little girl on July 5th and just couldn't go without making a quilt for her sister's little girl as well. I took the other Dilly Dally charm pack and made this quilt top on Thurs. night. We went to the races on Fri. night, so I got up early Sat. morning and quilted and bound it before the shower.


It turns out the hand work takes longer than making the top! I quilted daisies into this one as well.

I just love how the quilting turned out.

She seemed to really like it.

Her sister wasn't there, but will get the quilt soon. I really enjoy making baby quilts, knowing that the recipient will love it. I have enough from fat quarters and scraps to make 2 more quilts just like these. I even worked out a deal to make one for a co-worker and she'll make me scrap book pages in exchange! I just love that kind of deal, since I suck at making anything scrap book related.
