UFO's 4 & 5 Finishes

This week I am busy preparing my projects for quilt retreat. I hate to go without being prepared. I plan to work on the sashing for Swoon and the sashing for the Crown Royal quilt. I cut out the CR sashing and plan to cut the Swoon sashing before the end of the week. Last night I was cleaning up my room and found this piece floating around. I had it about 1/3 quilted. I took the time to work on my doodle quilting and finished it up. It's not perfect, but it sure was fun to practice. I'm teaching a free motion sampler class in the spring quarter, so I've been working on different designs to show.

Here's a little better picture of the quilting designs.

It's hard to get into a rhythm in this small of area, but it's also fun to get to change so often. I used a white Aurifil thread in both the top and bobbin.

Since I'm going to quilt retreat this weekend, I decided to pull out this embroidered piece Tammy gave us at quilt retreat last spring and make it into a bag. It turned out cute and I'm pleased to have it done. It might have been that my co-worker said I couldn't make a bag in an evening that spurred me on.

Yesterday and today at lunch I've worked on cutting out a Jewel box quilt from my scrap batiks. I plan to take them to retreat in case I have some time to work on them. I looked at the print out I have of the pattern and it's from 2011, which is probably when we made the friendship quilt for 1I'd Regina. I know I started cutting my batik scraps then to make the quilt, but just haven't gotten around to it. Now it's on my UFO list. Time to get cracking on some bigger quilts.

My list of retreat projects includes:
Crown Royal Sashing (The last time I worked on it was Quilt Retreat 2012!)
Swoon Sashing - Hope to finish the top
Black/White/Pink 5 yard quilt
Giant Star Burst QAL
Scrappy Trip Around the World
Jewel Box
Purple Hexie Table Topper
Poinsettia Table Topper
Day Break Table Topper
Snowflake Table runner

Mind you I am fully aware I will not finish all of these or probably even touch half of them, but I must be prepared! Now to decide which sewing machine to take. I'm thinking the 6600 needs to see the light of day for a while. It's been far too long.
