September Finishes

September flew by and it appears October is going to do the same. I've been very busy finishing up UFO's and trying to get a bunch of bags done.
I worked on several blocks of On Ringo Lake and I think I finished 5 more blocks. I also finished a lot of the corner pieces.

My biggest finish was my Farm Girl Vintage quilt. It was quilted by Marie Brewer and I quickly finished it.

I love the farm animals on it, which is why I had Marie quilt it.

I'm loving the way the quilting turned out.

I spent an afternoon quilting and was able to quilt Cobblestone, done in Glamping Gypsies fabric.

I finished the binding and I'm so happy with how it turned out. It will be a quilt for our bed in the camper.

I bought this pattern at Mikaela's begging and then promptly lost it back in June. I found it the end of September when I was going on a work trip. I'm so happy I found it!

I flew to St. Louis for a work conference the last week of September. I took my hexie diamonds (or popcorn as Regina calls them.) and sewed them on the plane rides. I have them all sewn together and ready to make into a table runner.

We toured the Arch. If you haven't been there recently, the new visitor center is amazing.

I loved the trip and learning all the history.

I also worked hard to finish my scrappy trip around the world top. I took this picture and then realized I had two blocks wrong. I fixed it before quilting it. 


I feel like I was pretty productive. I spent quite a bit of time working on a Tudor bag to take on my trip, then miss cut, got frustrated, and quit on it, so it's still in pieces.

One Monthly Goal January Accomplished

This month my One Monthly Goal was to finish my Crazy Mom Quilts Focus Block English Paper Pieced table topper. This was also my American Patchwork's UFO of January.
I was able to finish sewing the hexie's together and found a little time at my dad's to quilt it. It's all bound and completed thanks to time at the guild meeting. I'm so excited to be done with this EPP project. It was the last one I had going, so I've gotten started on another one, but haven't made any progress yet.

I was able to attend our guild's SOYO - Sew On Your Own retreat and got most of my FGV quilt together. I have a few spots I need to fix, but I'm so glad to have it in this spot right now.

I spent most of the weekend getting these black and white blocks into a quilt top. It's my oldest UFO and I really wanted it done. The top is done and now I can focus on quilting it next month. This was my Patchwork Times UFO for January and the top stage is more than I expected, so I'm happy with my progress moving it forward.

My daughter got to go to quilt retreat for the first day. It was her birthday and she made two bags.

February Accomplishments

This was a great month for my accomplishments. I started it out sick with the nasty bug that was going around, but when I found my groove I accomplished quite a bit.
I made the Tudor Bag from Sew Sweetness as a work bag for a trip to Brookings this month. It's an awesome bag for work! I love the size, durability, and structure.

I'm teaching the Ellipse quilt in April, so I made this sample. It turned out really cute and I think it will be very loved.

On my work trip, I finally finished sewing all the green blocks for a  5-yard quilt. It's my hope to finish this one yet this year. I think all the blocks are done now.

I also pieced the top of Mathew's quilt on my trip so I could quilt it when I got home. I was able to finish it this month and he loves it.

I also quilted Dangerous BOM. It's still awaiting binding, but I'm so glad I could spend the holiday at my dad's quilting on these two quilts.

I quilted and bound Metro Hoops as well. It feels so good to have this one done and not hanging over me any longer.

Winding Ways is another UFO that was hanging over my head way too long. I'm so proud of finishing it.

These were the last 4 blocks for FGV and I finally got them done. It feels so good to have all of the FGV blocks done.

I also had a 3-hour block of testing that I was able to stitch during. I spent quite a few breaks as well stitching on this Ahhhh's quilt top. This is how I laid it out, but now that I look at it, I think I really want it to be a hexagon. I have plenty of the Ahhhh's left, so I'll pull out 8 more and continue working on them. I'm really proud of how far I came on this in just two months. At the start of the year they were just the hexies!


My Stash Report is doing well. I would be doing even better if I didn't take my kids to the quilt shop. I've literally only bought 4 yards for myself. The rest is for the kids (17 yards) and samples.

I was able to stop at Chamberlain on my way home from my work trip to see Destiny, the new statue overlooking the Missouri River. She's amazing and even more so in person!











My husband and his co-workers won an award for their work on the new Orchard Meadows Common Cents. He did some amazing work and I am so proud of him for winning this award.

En Provence Clue 3

This week I was able to get a start on my blocks on Friday. I cut out the pieces on my lunch break and took them home to sew. We were spending the weekend at my brothers, so I had to pack and get stuff ready, but before I went to sleep I just had to sew a strip set and see if my math was correct. I used the Stripology ruler to cut my strip set. It went so quick and easy!! I was able to cut 3 4 patch sets at a time.

It was so quick and easy that last night as I was cutting 3 strip sets at a time, I accidently cut my finger with the rotary cutter. All my sets are prepped and ready to sew.

Friday night I got 10 4 patches completed.

While I was making my strip sets on Monday night, I made two blocks for my Farm Girl Vintage sew along. I used my stratas as my leader/enders. I just couldn't help but laugh since I'm not sure strip sets are really good leaders and enders, but I wanted to get my blocks done.

I was sewing and didn't follow the directions, so I'll have to make a mirror image block for the stem.

I just love doing the mystery quilt, even if I get a bit too careless and cut myself. It will heal and I should be able to get these done before the next clue on Friday.

October OMG finished!

October was a very successful sewing month for me as is usually the case. I just seem to finish up a lot of overdue projects. I finished 25 projects this month!
My OMG goal was to finish Strip Lash, which I was able to do before attending Gudrun's class at the retreat.

I finished up the 4 blocks for FGV quilt along. I now have two more to work on. I'm loving this sew along because it is slow paced and I can sew other stuff too.

I finished the 6th block for Gudrun's Dangerous BOM. I love this mystery!

I finished up two All Bottled Up bags for gifts.

I finished two purple Charm baskets. I have another 4 cut out! These will just not go away.

I finished the Peek A Boo table runner for a class I plan to teach in January. I have two more cut out to show it in different styles.

Eight hours of testing this month gave me time to work on my EPP. I got 4.5 rows sewn together. Progress! This hand piecing project is going on 6 years.

Yesterday I was able to quilt at dad's. I got Giant Starburst quilted.

I quilted Strip Burst and bound it last night for another finish.

I quilted Strip to be Square and bound it last night.


The best part of the month was taking a class at a retreat with Gudrun Erla of GE Designs. She was one of my "bucket list" teachers I'd wanted to take a class from. I loved every minute of it!





















The kids are loving the beautiful fall weather, so we take lots of pictures before school. Although for the next week it will be dark every morning when we leave at 7:20!
