October OMG finished!

October was a very successful sewing month for me as is usually the case. I just seem to finish up a lot of overdue projects. I finished 25 projects this month!
My OMG goal was to finish Strip Lash, which I was able to do before attending Gudrun's class at the retreat.
Strip Lash II finished!
I finished up the 4 blocks for FGV quilt along. I now have two more to work on. I'm loving this sew along because it is slow paced and I can sew other stuff too.
My 4 blocks for FGV finished just in time. New blocks came out today.
I finished the 6th block for Gudrun's Dangerous BOM. I love this mystery!
The first 6 blocks of Dangerous BOM.
I finished up two All Bottled Up bags for gifts.
Essential oil bag made with wine fabric scraps.
I finished two purple Charm baskets. I have another 4 cut out! These will just not go away.

I finished the Peek A Boo table runner for a class I plan to teach in January. I have two more cut out to show it in different styles.

Eight hours of testing this month gave me time to work on my EPP. I got 4.5 rows sewn together. Progress! This hand piecing project is going on 6 years.
Four hours of testing =4 1/2 rows sewn together. More progress than in the past year.
Yesterday I was able to quilt at dad's. I got Giant Starburst quilted.

The best part of the month was taking a class at a retreat with Gudrun Erla of GE Designs. She was one of my "bucket list" teachers I'd wanted to take a class from. I loved every minute of it!

A fun class with Gudrun Erla Gisladottir yesterday at the Quilting in the Hills retreat.

The kids are loving the beautiful fall weather, so we take lots of pictures before school. Although for the next week it will be dark every morning when we leave at 7:20!

Design Wall

This week has been especially successful in the sewing studio. I cleaned up, re-organized, and don't have any pressing deadlines, so I have been able to finish up a few odds and ends.
I made three project bags. I ran out when I was going to retreat a few weeks ago and I was mad I didn't have any made up. I had intended to give these away... two years ago, but that didn't happen, so I can use them now.
Three more project bags completed.
I'm really trying to finish up the sweetpea pods I have cut out from when I made bendy bags last fall. I finished 5 more this week. I think the 7-10 I still have left can all be done with navy thread, so I need to get that on and finish those up. These will probably end up as gifts.
Five sweetpea pods done. Only 7 left!
My friend Kim asked for a new coaster, so I made this purple one for her. We have the same love for purple. Super simple and quick, but well loved.
Coaster made for a former coworker in purples.
I made this giant starburst top from scraps. It's almost identical to the last one I made, but with different yellows. I made too many yellows this time, so I'll have to figure out a plan for them.
Finished the Giant GB Starburst top tonight. Made with leftover scraps from the last one.
Today we have an accreditation visit for our full program we have that I assist with. I planned the lunch/reception and cleaned up the office. I also made my SDSU mouse pad from a leftover block. I had originally made it for a demo, except it was partially together (think 1 corner missing) and it got lost. I sewed up the corner and finished up the block, quilted and did the binding last night.
Yellow and blue granny square orphan block made into a table topper. We have our accreditation visit tomorrow, so sewing decor relaxs me.
It looks super cute next to the table topper it was meant to be in. I made the one in the upper left-hand corner to replace the missing block. Oh well, no harm in having an extra block.
Scrappy granny square table topper.
Last night I started on the Peek-a-Boo table runner I am doing for a class in January. I always struggle when starting quilt as you go, but once I get going, it's easy. I made all the pieces and this morning I was up early with my little early riser, so I worked on this for 1/2 hour. Got the center started and I'll be ready to work on it when I get home tonight.
Started my Peek a Boo runner this morning. Getting up an hour early fave me some extra time to sew. #gedesigns

Weekend of Sewing

This weekend we enjoyed some relaxing time at Hart Ranch Camping Resort. We also went to my dad's for the day on Saturday, so I got some quilting time. I quilted Strip Lash II.

Christmas gifts for coworkers. Take your pick!
While in the camper I made this dog basket for my boss for Christmas.
Basket made for a Christmas gift tonight.
Then a basket for a co-worker for Christmas.
Chess basket for a coworker for Christmas. Tried the curtain grommet handles and love them! Hopefully he'll put his chess pieces in it.
Then a basket for my daughters teacher for Christmas.
Camping basket for Mikaela's teacher for Christmas.
With the other scraps I made another small basket for ??... just to get it done. All in all a very good sewing weekend.

I also took out the cutout purple baskets and started working on them. I was inspired to finish them up, even if it is as leaders/enders while making binding.

October One Monthly Goal

I've been completing monthly and weekly goals, but forgot to post them in August and September, so I'm getting back on track. The Strip Lash II quilt is my OMG for October. I finished the top last month and my goal is to get it bound yet this month. Gudrun is coming on Friday for a class and I'd really like to have it finished by then, so we'll see. I quilted it at my dad's on Saturday and I have the binding made at home, so with some luck, I hope to finish it yet tonight.
