Finish it Up Friday

This week was less than productive, but I do have my first finish of February to share. This is the EPP Buggy Barn Scraps table topper I made over the last 2 years. It's really pretty small, maybe 14" square, but used up most of the leftover scraps from the 9 BB quilts I made with this line.

I am also participating in the Star Light Star Bright QAL at Happy Quilting. I'm a bit behind, but I did get my fabrics all cut out last night. I was going to do the 32" block for a baby quilt, but I found these scraps I've been saving to make a co-worker a wedding present, so I decided to go with them. The main fabric is on top, then my star points, then background. I did cut these out in the middle of the night, with very little light, so I hope they go together.

I've also been participating in the Chromatic Mystahhhhry over at Hillbilly Quilt Shop. I've gotten all 3 steps done so far and am waiting for Monday's instructions.

I hope they go together well with the other colors I selected.

Hopefully I'll get caught up on my QAL step 2 this weekend and then I'll be ready for the next step. I am also busy working on samples, so I hope to get a bit of sewing done this weekend.

A Year of Lovely Finishes February Goal

My Button

This month is going to be busy for me and I'm just not sure how much sewing I will get done. Considering I went to retreat with friends last weekend and don't have anything to show for it, I'm not doing so well. However I did miss the first 12 hours due to being at my great-aunt's funeral, so I shouldn't feel too bad. I did do 22 blocks for my Black/White/Pink quilt and I started a sample for my upcoming classes.
My goal for AYOLF for February is to quilt and bind this table topper. I think I can get it done, but since it doesn't have an intended recipient, it will be a challenge. I have another one that should be done too, but if I finish this one I'll be doing well. I have a lot of samples to make this month, so I'll keep this goal simple.
Untitled
I would also like to get the binding on this wall hanging. I've decided I should really put a chevron on it, so I think I'll pick something up and get it done quickly. I also need to quilt the other block that goes with it.
Untitled
I am hoping to work on binding this one as well. I do at least have the binding sewn to the top, so I just need to sew it down by hand.
Untitled
My other goals for the month include:
Free Motion Sampler
Seaside Sewing Table Runner
Kona Tote
Juggling Summer Baby Quilt
Wonton Quilt

January Quilting in Review

January was an amazingly productive month for my quilting adventures! I spent 113 hours quilting and sewing during the month. I completed all my goals and finished a ton of tops. Now it's time to get it all quilted.
I made the mini-professional tote for a sample for a class I am teaching in April.
Untitled
I finished up a table runner of mom's and gave it to Tammy's mom Alice for Christmas.
Untitled
I finished up the tree table runner of mom's and gifted it to my mom's cousin Barbara.
Untitled
I embroidered a blanket for my SIL to be when her aunt passed.
Untitled
I made my aunt Jane an embroidered towel for Christmas.
Untitled
I finished up a free motion quilting sample.
Untitled
I made a bag out of the embroidered piece Tammy made for us for retreat last year.
Untitled
I also made Mathew a taggie blanket.
Untitled
I made him two car seat blankets out of minkee.
Untitled
I finished this Loralie quilt top of moms.
Untitled
I finished this top after teaching the class.
Untitled
I FINISHED the TOP of SWOON!!! This was my AYLF goal for the month and I am so glad to have it done.
Untitled
I finished the poinsettia table topper top after class.
Untitled
I finished the back of mom's Loralie quilt. It's now ready to quilt.
Untitled
I finished the top of Crown Royal, now I just need a backing and I'll be ready to quilt it.
Untitled
I made the Star Burst QAL for my SIL to be in Green Bay colors. It needs something before I finish it though.
Untitled
I made a diaper clutch for my dad and Ann's neighbor. They had a new baby boy.
Untitled
I FINISHED the TOP of my Amish Rubic Star. Now I am going to try to hand quilt it. Wish me luck, I've never done it before.
Untitled
I made this sample for the store.
Untitled
Then I made this sample, both easy and both patterns just $2!
Untitled
I finished the top, quilted, and bound this table topper. I am still working on the hand sewn binding, but it will be done this month.
Untitled
I finished the hand work on this piece and quilted/bound it. It is now my first February finish!
Untitled
I also finished the top of my friendship swap quilt and quilted it on Friday. Now to find some fun binding and get it done.
Untitled
I also made this table runner and quilted it. The binding is now on and I need to hand sew it down now.
Untitled
Mikaela turned 3 and she got a sewing machine, so we've been spending time sewing together.
Untitled
I also got my quilting frame set up at dad's so I am ready to quilt!
Untitled
I look forward to what February will bring. Only 7 weeks of class left and I'll be done with my masters and really have some sewing time!

A Year of Lovely Finishes January Goal Met!

A Lovely Year of Finishes

Tonight as I rush to meet the deadline for A Year of Lovely Finishes January Goal I am thrilled with my accomplishments for January. My goals weren't real lofty, but I completely blew them out of the water! I wrote my goals at the beginning of the month and linked up my desire to get Swoon to a quilt top. They are however too numerous to mention for this late night post. I'm at my dad's preparing to leave at 4AM in the morning to head to Mitchell/Mt. Vernon for my great aunt's funeral. It's going to be a long day, but I want to be with my family. We'll head back asap so I can meet up with my friends for a sewing sleepover.
I went to a quilt retreat with my aunt and friends Nicole and Joyce and one of my finishes was the sashing and borders of Swoon, so my AYLF Goal was met for the month of January!

Untitled
Crown Royal top was another major goal. This quilt has been hanging out since 2010 and I FINALLY got it into a quilt top. If you're interested in the story of the CR quilt and the other SOYO projects click the finally link to see all I was able to accomplish.

Untitled

Another major finish for me happened tonight. I moved my quilt frame to the King size at my dad and Ann's new home. They live about 45 min. from us, so I will be able to come out and quilt and the kids can spend time with Grandpa and Grandma. I put it together on MLK day and then finished it up tonight. I ordered new carriage and track rails and they work amazing. After 226 quilts, they were worn out!

Untitled

Friendship Quilt 2013 was a quick quilt to finish quilting tonight. It is 36" square and I quilted it with white and white. So excited to show it to my friends at the sleepover tomorrow night.

Untitled

Let It Snow Batik table runner was the first "test" project tonight to show Ann how the frame/machine work, but also to make sure everything was working perfect. I am so pleased with how it turned out. I can't wait to see all the "big" quilts I can now finish.

Untitled
So tonight was extremely productive and I am so happy to have the quilt frame set up. I met every single goal I set for January and I'll have to do a longer post later, but I am so pleased with my Swoon top being done that I wanted to make sure to link up. Here's to a very productive February!

Mystahhhhry Parts 1 & 2

This week I started the Hillbilly Quilt Shop Mystahhhhry. I really struggled with my colors (because I don't like to follow the example). I wanted to change it up, so I picked a print for my main large triangles. I got those cut out and basted last night.
Untitled
I also glued down all the diamonds last night and cut them out. I'm finishing up the basting today and will be ready for the next step, set to release next week.
Untitled
I'm linking up for Needle and Thread Thursday.
