Baby Stephens First Baby Quilt!

Last year in September we got this new line in at the shop. I has baby sign language on it and is so super cute! I instantly fell in love with it and bought enough to do something with it. In October I was going to Jenn's and needed a project to take along, so I took the fabrics and cut it out at work. I sewed all the blocks at Jenn's and it's been like that since then. I just didn't have the special baby in mind that I wanted to make it for.  When Jenn, Shonna, and I were going to Gaila's in June, I picked this up and decided the time was right to finish it. I got the blocks together and put the borders on it. It sat in flimsy stage until last night! I was itching to actually quilt something and I had enough batting and the backing for this one, so I put it on the frame and an hour later it was quilted! I quilted it with a pastel King Tut and tan Bottomline.

Yes, we are expecting our first baby in January and we couldn't be more excited! I finally will have the baby I've wanted to make this quilt for all along. Since we don't know yet if it's a boy or a girl, this will work for both. We can find out at the beginning of September, but I'm leaving it up to Paul if he wants to find out or not.... I have 2 baby boy and 2 baby girl quilts already in the cedar chest for our baby.

Last night I was extremely productive! I finished quilting this one and put the binding on as well as another quilt. It feels great to have this much energy again and be quilting again. I accomplished 2 goals for Aug. in one night!

  9. Congrats (again!). Love the quilt and very special for you little one. My kids both learned the sign for 'milk', 'more' and 'finished' pretty quickly... they were a godsend to understanding what they want when they are little bits! Good luck and enjoy the peace and quiet until January.... it's the last you'll get for a while! Hugs.
